He was a professor of Iranian and Turkish philology and the director of the Institute of Islamic Studies at Dagestan State University . He studied Iranian philology at the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University and later worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences . He is one of the Fellows of the Royal Aal Al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan and a member of the Tajik Academy of Sciences . He translated the Koran into the Russian language, a publication that first appeared in 1995 and for which he received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology from President Putin in 2002 and from the Spiritual Administration the Muslims of Dagestan [9] (DUMD) were accused of Wahhabism . His areas of interest included the history and textual criticism of Persian literature, Persian lexicography, and the translation and commentary of the Koran.
