   More : He is a Chief Research Fellow at G. Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies of Ilia State University, Tbilisi. He is a lecturer at the Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies of Ilia State University in Tbilisi, who is mostly famous for his in-depth studies on the Safavid and Qajar dynasties. Education and career 1965 - graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Tbilisi State University, specializing in Iranian Studies and the History of Middle East (Diploma with High Honours P # 115490). 1965 - joined the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Georgian Academy of Sciences (IOSGAS), Tbilisi, as a post - graduate. 1969 - promoted to Junior Research Fellow of the IOSGAS. 1970 – received scientific degree (Ph.D) in Iranian Studies (History) from Tbilisi State University (Diploma MUT #007666) 1974 -1977 - on a mission in Tehran, Iran, as an expert-interpreter invited by the Ministry of Education of Iran. 1977 – promoted to Research Fellow of the IOSGAS, Tbilisi. 1979 - promoted to Senior Research Fellow of the IOSGAS, Tbilisi. 1988 - promoted to Leading Research Fellow of the IOSGAS. 1990-1996 - Deputy Director of the IOSGAS. 1996 -2002 - Acting Director of the IOSGAS. 2002 -2008 - Deputy Director of the G.Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies, Tbilisi. 2008 -up to present – Research Fellow and Chief Scientific Consultant, G.Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies, Ilia State University, Tbilisi. 2005 - 2013 -- Assistant of the President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Tbilisi. 2008 - up to present -- Expert-Consultant (in Islamic History and Art) at the Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi. In various years (1972-1974, 1979-1995) Dr. Grigol Beradze taught the history and geography of Iran at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. From 1991 to 2009 he was a Professor of the modern Persian language and Iranian history at Tbilisi Institute of Asia and Africa, where he also conducted a special seminar “GeorgianIranian historical and cultural relations”. Dr. Grigol Beradze studies problems of the history and culture of Iran, Central Asia and the Caucasus of the Middle Ages and Modern Times, problems of the historical and cultural interrelations of Iran and Georgia, as well as different issues of Islamic art, Islamic epigraphy, numismatics, and sphragistics. He has participated in numerous international scientific congresses, conferences and symposia in Tbilisi, Moscow, Baku, Yerevan, Tehran, Istanbul, London, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Sarajevo, St. Petersburg, Cambridge, Coventry, Isfahan, Shiraz, Mashhad, Sari, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Bamberg, Missoula (Montana, USA), Venice, Trento, Ras al-Khaima, Hyderabad (India), etc., and has published up to 90 scholarly works in Georgian, Russian, English, German, French, Persian, Arabic and Japanese languages. Dr. Grigol Beradze is editor of the first Georgian-language encyclopaedic reference book about Islam, published in 1999 in Tbilisi.
